Aidou ID206 smart watch uses Nordic’s nRF52840 SoC to support Amazon Alexa voice service function
Nordic announced that Shenzhen-based smart wearable device company Aidu semiconductor Technology Co., Ltd. has selected Nordic nRF52840 Bluetooth 5.2/Bluetooth® Low Energy (Bluetooth LE) advanced multi-protocol system-on-chip (SoC) for its The Amazon Alexa-enabled “ID206” smartwatch provides core processing power and wireless connectivity.
The ID206 smartwatch features a 43mm (1.69”) LCD-HD color Display, built-in microphone, heart rate and pulse oximeter (SpO2) sensors, and a three-axis gyroscope. Users can use this smartwatch to remotely operate their smartphone , such as answering phone calls and SMS notifications, or controlling music playback functions. The integrated Amazon Alexa allows users to achieve completely hands-free smartwatch operation, as well as remote control of other Amazon Alexa smart home devices.
In addition, this waterproof ID206 smartwatch has many additional functions, including 14 sports modes, sleep and stress monitoring, step tracking, calorie consumption, and distance detection. The smartwatch is powered by the nRF52840 SoC, where a 64MHz, 32-bit Arm® Cortex® M4 processor with a floating-point unit (FPU) provides ample computing power to run complex sensor algorithms capable of accurately tracking and calculating health data and activity data.
With the Bluetooth Low Energy wireless connectivity provided by the Nordic SoC, users can view exercise history, fitness statistics and results in order to achieve your exercise goals more effectively. Users can also log into their Amazon account from the app to set up AVS.
The ID206 smart watch is powered by a 300mAh lithium polymer battery that can be fully charged in 2.5 hours. Under normal usage conditions, the smartwatch can run for 7 to 10 days on a charge, thanks in part to the ultra-low-power operation of the Nordic nRF52840 SoC. The nRF52840 has been carefully designed to minimize power consumption through a fully automated power management system, reducing power consumption by up to 80% compared to the nRF51 series.
The nRF52840 SoC’s Arm Cortex processor combines with a 2.4GHz multi-protocol radio (supports Bluetooth 5.2, long-range, Bluetooth mesh, Thread, Zigbee, ANT™, IEEE 802.15.4, NFC and proprietary 2.4GHz RF protocol software) with 8dBm output power , -95dBm RX sensitivity, 103dBm link budget with 1MB Flash and 256kB RAM. The dynamic multi-protocol capability uniquely supports concurrent wireless connections for these protocols. The SoC features 12Mbps full-speed USB and integrates the Arm CryptoCell-310 cryptographic accelerator, providing the industry’s best security for Cortex-M-based SoCs.
nRF52840 software development using the nRF Connect Software Development Kit (SDK) is recommended. The nRF Connect SDK integrates Zephyr RTOS, supports applications using Bluetooth Low Energy, Bluetooth mesh and Thread, and includes examples, Bluetooth Low Energy profiles and all peripherals Device driver support. This SDK also includes the Nordic Bluetooth SoftDevice controller, which is a proven SoftDevice ported from the company for the nRF52 series. The nRF5 SDK can also be used with Nordic’s Bluetooth RF protocol stacks S113, S132 and S140 SoftDevice for product development.
He An, founder and CEO of Aidu, said: “Many of our products choose to use the nRF52840 SoC because its software has been extensively verified, runs stably, has abundant resources, and can be easily applied using Nordic’s SDK. Development. This SoC also has sufficient Flash, RAM, GPIO, QSPI and other resources to meet the design requirements of the ID206 smart watch.”
“Furthermore, battery life is an important consideration for users when purchasing a smartwatch, and the ultra-low power consumption of this SoC is the key to ensuring that the smartwatch can run for a long time after charging.”
