Renesas Electronics Expands “Cloud Lab”, Reinvents Remote Design

TOKYO, Japan, September 7, 2021 – Renesas Electronics Group (TSE: 6723), a global supplier of semiconductor solutions, today announced the expansion of its popular “Cloud Lab” to simplify configuration and testing and speed time-to-market speed. Renesas has enhanced its remote labs with advanced GUI functions and new design parameters to create a more engaging and user-friendly user experience and provide designers with greater configuration flexibility.

Renesas Electronics Expands “Cloud Lab”, Reinvents Remote Design

Cloud Labs enables users to instantly access, configure, test, monitor and evaluate Renesas solutions 24/7 in a fully-fledged remote lab, including evaluation boards with popular products, Renesas “Success Portfolio” proof-of-concept boards, and Additional solutions from Renesas partners. Users can access the physical lab through a PC-based GUI, allowing designs to be configured and tested instantly without having a physical board on hand.

The new user-friendly GUI introduces new control parameters and additional monitoring results. A lab layout that is more user-friendly, advanced functions, and an intuitive user interface make it easier and faster for developers to navigate the design environment, such as multi-view real-time camera images that allow users to see the complete lab setup and results, as well as Zoom in and out of live test and data acquisition readings view.

Advanced test setup and control for speech recognition, mobile applications and power supplies allows users to complete complex tests such as transient performance with just a few mouse clicks.

Renesas has also added new options for products such as the “use point clock chip” Femtoclock2. Femtoclock2 is an ultra-small size, ultra-low power, less than 100fs clock generation and jitter attenuation solution. By building access to cloud labs for customers, testing high-performance products is easier than ever, accelerating the design process and ensuring that demanding performance requirements are met. In addition, Renesas has added a new “Cloud Lab” suite that includes clocks, power supplies, speech recognition and control, medical, security and surveillance, industrial communications, and IEEE 1588/5G computing and communications.

“As application requirements continue to change rapidly, customers are looking for a powerful, flexible, and easy-to-use approach to design configuration and testing,” said DK Singh, Director, Systems and Solutions Marketing Division, Renesas Electronics. “We are always striving to make it easier and faster for users. Based on Renesas products, the enhanced “cloud lab” environment can take product selection and testing capabilities to new heights.”

Renesas has also introduced 14 popular evaluation boards in the “Cloud Lab” environment; it currently has 23 different boards for a variety of devices in a variety of application areas. These new boards include:
