It is reported that OPPO announced to cooperate with Vodafone and Ericsson to participate in the completion of the UK’s first 5G SA network and provide the first 5G SA network slicing service.
This is an important milestone in the construction of 5G SA networks in Europe, and it once again demonstrates OPPO’s technological leadership and strong industry collaboration capabilities in the 5G field.
The new network was built at Coventry University in the UK and uses OPPO 5G phones powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 mobile platform and MediaTek Dimensity 1000 series mobile platform. OPPO has established cooperative relationships with more than 40 European operators, and has established a long-term sustainable 5G ecosystem with partners.
OPPO and Ericsson have developed mobile phone-side network slicing solutions with Qualcomm and MediaTek respectively, allowing users to choose slices independently in the 5G SA network environment, bringing the best experience to different scenarios. One slice can meet the requirements of ordinary Internet users. The high-speed access to the school and the dedicated connection to the on-campus server allow teachers and students to quickly access on-campus resources and achieve low-latency, high-definition remote teaching.
According to the definition of 3GPP, 5G is divided into two modes: NSA (non-independent networking) and SA (independent networking), where SA refers to an independent networking architecture using 5G base stations and 5G core networks. Since SA is the inevitable development direction of the future 5G network architecture, major operators around the world are currently actively promoting the deployment of 5G SA networks.
Based on the 5G core network architecture, 5G network slicing technology has also been applied. SA network and slicing technology are the latest achievements of OPPO’s series of technological innovations in the 5G field. OPPO will continue to invest in this field to lead the trend of 5G.
OPPO believes that “the integration of all things” is the future trend. In the future, technologies will be integrated with each other, which will lead to new products, usage scenarios and services, and 5G is the connection foundation for the integration of all things.
On the one hand, OPPO works closely with supply chain partners to jointly deepen the level of 5G technology and improve the 5G user experience. On the other hand, it has established extensive partnerships with the world’s leading operators and retailers to jointly accelerate the popularization of 5G.
OPPO will also independently develop chips, and has already recruited many chip experts from MediaTek. In fact, it is difficult to see results in a short time by insisting on independent research and development, but the long-term adherence to the results is not bad, and the future can be expected.
